"Wow, it's like the Consumer Reports of Mass Politics" (thanks, we're trying...)
THIS SITE IS DEDICATED TO GROW AND PROVIDE A COMPLETE REPORT OF EACH CANDIDATE'S CORE POSITIONS ON MATTERS THAT COUNT TO YOU.

Massachusetts, Version 3.5

David P. Kopacz Sr.

2

Guns, 2nd Amendment

YES

NO

I support the 2nd Amendment
I have a License to Carry
I have an FID Card
I am a member of GOAL
I am a member of the NRA
Gun license fees should be low to encourage legal gun ownership
I will support a hunter's rights
I will never vote to diminish gun owner's rights
I have or will seek the endorsement of GOAL

Comments:

I view gun ownership as an inherent right and oppose nearly all licensing initiatives. Accepting a license for anything translates a right into a privilege that is revocable. Although I am highly supportive of GOAL and their solid track record of defending this critical right, I am not so pleased with the NRA's willingness to compromise on key issues they should be staunchly defending

Taxes

YES

NO

Comments:

Term limits is a topic I have struggled with, as many have as well. When the rest of the political system is working and voters are "fully informed", elections serve as a very effective way of limiting the term of a misguided public servant. Under finite term limits, there is a built in incentive to perform during the tenure, but leaves little protection against blatant abuse and corruption when individuals are leaving office. For the reasons stated, I am inclined to work towards improving the integrity of elections and transparency and encourage voters themselves to be the gatekeeper of term limits.

3

Immigration

YES

NO

Comments:

Immigration is one of the few things the Federal government in mandated to address. Since this has such a direct impact on economic conditions and the security of the nation as a whole, I am also in favor of individual States doing whatever is necessary to protect their citizenry. Selective enforcement of this (or any) constitutional law is unacceptable.

6

Pro-Life vs. Pro-Choice

YES

NO

.
, not abortion

When do human beings begin to exist?

Until what point should a women be able to abort her baby?

Never if the abortion is relevant to irresponsibility or poor judgment! All unwanted pregnancies, from normal relations, should be brought to term and adopted into loving families.

Have you ever had the opportunity to promote your views on these issues? (provide an example).

This subject is among those personal values that exists in my daily dialogue. This isn't something that is bulled out of mothballs to showcase whenever it's politically beneficial. It really should be an inseparable part of who we are as conservatives. I have promoted this particular value at meeting, on the radio, on CATV, on blogs, in speeches, and individual conversations.

Comments:

Simply put, I voted "no" on question #5 because to endorse government involvement in this issue just serves to validate the government roll in these matters of individual authority. The Federal government should be purged from interfering in this matter entirely!

5

Pro-Family vs. Pro Same-Sex Marriage

YES

NO

I will support marriage to exist between one man and one woman

CHOOSE ONE:
I believe that marriage is something that is:

something that can be re-defined by the state

I believe homosexuality is

Have you ever had the opportunity to promote your views on these issues? (provide an example).

My position on promotion of this issue is the same as my response under pro-life above.

Additional Comments:

Marriage existed long before government and has always been a religious matter. I do not support federal interference in this subject, on any level.

Government

FOR 2012 STATE COMMITTEE CANDIDATES ONLY
(Republican and Democrat State Committee Members/Candidates):

1. Support of Current Party Chair:

He/she has done a good job and deserves our support.

I think we would benefit from a change in Party Chair, and I'm looking forward to supporting a new chair with a VERY different outlook from our most recent chair.

I have an open mind and look forward to hearing from all the candidates (whoever they may be) in the future.

Comments:

The Mass GOP just doesn't get it! Every plan ever conceived by establishment Republicans has always relied on leveraging the energy and power of the grassroots. The tires meet the road, every time, without fail, by activating the grassroots right in their neighborhoods and regions. I want to work towards marrying the leadership of the Party with the power of the grassroots.

Party support is currently weak due to deviating values and resistance to new blood or classic conservative ideals.

Local candidates have been largely abandoned.

Many local committees are weak and unorganized.

We can't run a better candidate because we don't have a farm team and none are coming up through the ranks. This trend MUST be reversed!

2. Financial, Mailing, and Fundraising Support of Candidates:

I believe our party has appropriately funded candidates. Only minor changes if any would be appropriate.

I believe we need to conduct serious fundraising and prioritize our support for STATE REP candidates, not just the Gov.

Comments:

3. State Party Image and Focus

Our message is clear and the voters understand.

Our message is confusing, diluted, and voters don't understand what we stand for. We need a serious re-focus and comprehensive information campaign. This is sorely needed, and we need to start NOW! This has been a major failure of our party and its chair.

Comments:

4. My personal support of state rep. and other (non-Governor) candidates in 2008, 2010, and TODAY!:

Please give examples of what you have done:

Although I am very fortunate to be involved with numerous energetic groups, it also serves to divide my time and support. It is not unusual for me to help with a local race one day and a congressional race the next. In fact, I'm proud to say that Bill Gunn, candidate for US District 1, is the product of my town's RTC that I revived following the 2008 election. We clearly have to shift focus to State Representative seats in order to achieve the growth we need and are fully capable of. Moreover, we need to have State Committee representation that is proficient at leveraging multi-level exposure to all quality candidates while on the campaign trail.

About Me

Closest blood relative who served in the US Military, when and where:

Grandfather

Last two books you read:

Rescuing a Broken America by Dr. Michael Coffman The Grand Chessboard by Zbigniew Brzezinski (re-read)Nullification by Tom Woods

Your favorite US President of all time, and why:

Jefferson - Although extremely uncomfortably with public speaking, Jefferson was very wise and unafraid to answer the call to civic duty when his country needed him. He got out of his comfort zone and acted selflessly.

Your favorite US President of the 20th Century, and why:

Reagan. He had great confidence in our conservative message and knew how to communicate that to the people.

Your LEAST favorite US President of the 20th Century, and why:

Woodrow Wilson! He sold us out to the Central Banks and established the "progressive movement" which also plagues us today.

When was the last time you shot a firearm?

I am active in maintaining my shooting skills with rifles, archery & black powder. My wife and two sons shoot and we regularly have family memberships at local sportsman's clubs.

Confidence in my message and a spine.
