Ratings based on candidate's campaign literature, press releases, public discussions, and website at this time.

Canidate is in favor of repealing newly enacted automatic gas tax increases. (We pay almost 50 cents per gallon in state and federal gas taxes already...on a $3.39 gallon of gas, we pay an effective 13.25% tax rate!!!!

Candidate has states repeatedly that he has focused on campaigning, and not fundraising, and:
"... I have not, and will not, accept any money from non-individuals. Too many politicians have political committees and lobbyists lining their accounts. I am a candidate that is not for sale, and we could stand to have a few more of those in today’s political world. "
See website for details.

Update: Limited Government Rating : Would not vote to allow people to vote on the Marriage Amendment and would not oppose automatic increases in the gas tax
Reiterate Concern Noted for Keep Taxes Low: Although she gained a post-primary endorsement by CLT, she would not oppose automatic increases in the gas tax

We've downgraded Ms. Lee's entries for taxes and limited goverment. Her opponent is horrific, but Ms. Lee's positions seem to bounce in the wind. In this article, she claims that she is for eliminating the automatic gas tax.  However, when she answered Mass Family Institute's VoteValues Questionnaire in the primary, she was on record as not opposing the automatic gas tax. Seems to shift with the parade?

Athol Selectwoman and 2012 State Rep. Candidate.

Susannah has given over $2,000 to Republican Party candidates, but she also donated $350 to Extremist Democrat State Senator Stephen Brewer.

We expect some discussion during the campaign regarding the tax increases in Athol as she has served on the Selecboard and residents have seen increased spending on multiple projects, overrides, etc.. some highlights:

—Tax Rate increased by 89% since 2005
—Tax Levy increased by 67%
—General Fund Spending increased by 50%
—Despite bleatiang about local aid cuts, local aid increased by 20% since 2005 (50% rise from 2005 to 2009, 20% cut since 2009)

—Endorsed 2013 debt exclusion override

—Supported eliminating Quinn Bill at Athol’s 2009 Fall Town Meeting

(3) Despite completing our questionnaire, concern is noted regarded illegal immigration. As cited below by the local paper, Ms. Lee showed great compassion for those not born in the U.S.A., but went further, suggesting UN involvement in a streamlining preparation method to pair up illegals in a way to allow a more orderly entry to the U.S. Again, why should the U.S.A. be the destination of every illegal around the world? Why is entry here always the outcome? If elected, we do hope she stays true to her pledge to the voters to not provide benefits to illegals, but more importantly, does not encourage nor make it easier to streamline more to come here, which is what her debate comments suggest. We hate splitting hairs, but you need to know, there's a stark difference between the three candidate's approaches to illegals:
ANDREWS: Give them everything (housing priority over veterans, EBT, cash, drivers licenses, free tuition, etc., make Massachusetts a MAGNET free-zone state for illegals.
LEE: Illegal is illegal, but let's try to help folks, get them sponsors, and try to get them here in a way that is not taxing to our communities.
Anderson: Illegal is illegal. Force the federal government to come clean and stop dumping illegals in Mass. and stop making Mass. a magnet destination for illegals.

llegal Immigration

Where the two disagreed was in regard to how to deal with the recent flood of illegal immigrants coming into the state, which is providing medical services, housing, welfare and education benefits. They were asked what their policy on these criminal and illegal aliens living in Massachusetts might be.

"Lee mentioned that her husband is a first generation immigrant from Vietnam who came to the country as a political refugee as a child and that she believes in immigration. “Governor Patrick said recently that he feels it is his moral obligation to take care of these folks. Well it might be his moral obligation but it is our financial obligation,” she said, “The way this recent flood of immigrants has happened is not the legal path. There is a legal path to citizenship.” Lee pushed for more work from Christian communities, like the one that helped her husband, and the United Nations, which should be setting up places outside of the county to asses the needs of the people and pairing them with sponsors so they can become citizens legally. “I have the utmost sympathy for those unfortunate enough to be born outside this country,” she said."

LIBERAL EXTREMIST ALERT!

Denise Andrews
won 2012 primary with just 48% of the vote (not great for an incumbent and now, there's another controversy...see our Wall of Shame and story by HOWIE CARR on this 'hack')

Elected 2010
TAXES:
She gets and F rating from CLT for her tax-raising votes. Ditto from Mass Fiscal Alliance which rates candidates based on roll call votes.

Andrews has 100% name recognition but her voters apparently either do not know of her votes (which support illegals, and put them on priority to receive housing and benefits, for exampl, before Veterans, as well documented by roll call votes via Mass Fiscal and others), or the voters agree with her positions (we doubt). She is a strict supporter of the status quo, and does not even bother to read bills nor the budget (see below) as she has 100% faith and trust in the speaker of the house, Bob DeLeo.

UPDATE FROM BOSTON GLOBE: Admits to NOT READING BIGGEST BUDGET EVER! Says she has faith in the leadership. She doesn't read it, doesn't weigh in. What IS she collecting a salary for????

2012 & 2013 Endorsement by Mass Alliance (socialists)

NO Rating for Second Amendment, as she co-sponsored H.3253 with David Linsky and others relative to further regulating the licensing, sale and possession of firearms and increasing the tax on the sale of firearms and ammunition.  In an article about the bill, Andrews said she believes the country needs more uniform gun laws, as they vary greatly from state to state. Faced with TREMENDOUS opposition this cycle, she did vote against H4278, yeah, but rating stands. One vote and one statement during a highly charged election cycle does not re-write a serious of 3 years of

2014 gun vote for 4278. No opposition to DeLeo's gun grab H4121. actions.....

IMMIGRATION:
Signed letter to encourage making Massachusetts a MAGNET for ILLEGALS by given them In-State Tuition breaks, etc.

Endorsed by NARAL.

SEE HER LISTING ON OUR WALL OF SHAME.

(1, 6) NO for limited govt' and NO for pro-life: Voted on 7/23/2014 for S.2283 to impose severe fines and severely restrict 1st amendment rights.

DID WE GET A RATING WRONG?
Well, with incumbents, VOTES speak loud, but with "challengers",
picking through the mud can get murky at times.
