Comments:

I grew up in Westfield.  My Dad was an avid outdoorsman.  He was a hunter and a fisherman.  In the fall he loaded his shotgun with birdshot for the pheasant season and then changed over to slugs for the deer season in December.  He also had two handguns – a 44 magnum and a 22 colt revolver. My dad taught me how to handle guns, how to take them apart, clean them and reassemble them.  He was the consummate responsible gun owner.  Guns were never feared in our home.  He complied with all the State and Federal laws regarding guns.  As new laws were enacted he followed those also.  I remember how he installed trigger locks on his three guns when that became required.  As a small boy I remember then thinking how much more difficult it would be for my Dad to access a gun if he needed it to protect us. As I grew up, the lessons my Dad taught me became a part of who I am today.  I took a job as Manufacturing Manager at Savage Arms in Westfield.  I was responsible for the manufacture of thousands of guns and gun components.  The shotgun that I owned I also built myself – something not too many people can say.  As I was building it I remembered from long ago how my Dad had first showed me how to correctly reassemble his shotgun.  My Dad died from Parkinson Disease in 2006.  As that disease progressed and robbed him of his physical abilities he had to modify his use of guns.  He had to stop hunting.  He sold his shotgun.  He joined the shooting range at Smith & Wesson in Springfield where he took his two handguns and used them in target practice.  Had been a very strong man and was proud of his ability to accurately shoot his 44 magnum single-handedly.  But, with Parkinson’s Disease he was forced to use two hands – his form of gun control! However, there came a time when he realized that he could no longer physically handle his guns in a responsible manner - that it would not be safe for him or others around him if he were to use his guns.  So, when that time came he sold his remaining guns.  It was the last lesson he taught me in how to properly handle guns and be a responsible gun owner. When I went through the required training for a LTC and for my FID card, the list of then current laws, the violation of which would disqualify a Massachusetts citizen from owning a firearm, totaled 98 laws.  I’m sure that list has grown.  My point is that if you want a good neighbor look for a law-abiding gun owner – they have to be squeaky clean!I had an FID card when I owned the shotgun I built.  I sold my shotgun and my FID card has expired.  I've tried three times to renew it, and there have been scheduling conflicts with my local police department.  My strong support for the 2nd Amendment is not dependent of my having an FID card.  I would advocate for a having a "life time" FID card that rather than having to be renewed could be revoked only if someone was convicted of a serious and violent crime.

Illegal Immigration is Illegal!  I employ two non-U.S. citizens who have their green cards.  Immigrants who have come here legally, have stood in line and played by the rules are those most against illegal immigration.

When do human beings begin to exist?

At conception.

Have you ever had the opportunity to promote your views on these issues? (provide an example).

I've walked in the March for Life in Washington, D.C.  I'm a member of MCFL.  I've stood outside abortion clinics and silently prayed for the babies and women inside.  I've supported national Pro-life groups and candidates.

[ ] something that can be re-defined by the state

Have you ever had the opportunity to promote your views on these issues? (provide an example).

I am a member of the Coalition for Marriage & Family.  I've written Letters-to-the-Editor supporting traditional marriage. I've clearly stated my position on radio programs (WCRN "Conservatively speaking)" and at my many campaign stops.

i ask for your vote because: Liberal Democrat policies are driving people, businesses and jobs from MA.  I will make MA a business friendly state by making our corporate tax rate comparable to other business friendly states, reducing our over burdensome rules and regulations and eliminating the tax payer funded incentives for "fad" industries. Doing this will attract companies that can thrive and create the jobs that MA citizens can be proud of.

4. My personal support of a state rep. and other (non-Governor) candidates in 2008, 2010, and TODAY!:

Please give examples of what you have done:

I was Town Captain in Shrewsbury for the Mike Sullivan Campaign for U.S. Senate.  I was an unpaid volunteer making phones calls, knocking on doors, placing lawn signs, organizing standouts and reporting on election day returns.  I also donated to Mike's campaign.  I have given the maximum possible donation in both 2013 and 2014 for Brad Wyatt in his run for State Representative.  I support Brad in whatever way I can.  I have donated to and support Paul Frost, state Rep from Auburn.  I have supported both Don Humason (as state Rep and State Senator) and Dan Allie (local Westfield office and now in his run for State Rep.).

ALL CANDIDATES: General Info

Closest blood relative who served in the US Military, when and where:

My dad - US Navy during WWII

Last two (good) books I read:

Mark Twain's "Joan of Arc";  David McCullough's '1776"

Your favorite US President of all time, and why:

Abraham Lincoln.  His honesty and fearlessness.  His wisdom, "You can't please all the people all the time."

Your favorite US President of the 20th Century, and why:

Ronald Reagan:  for all the same reasons as I  gave for Lincoln.  He summed up his Presidency by saying that he hoped to be remembered as "Giving government back to the people."

Your LEAST favorite US President of the 20th Century, and why:

Barack Obama:  He favors Big Government and sees it as the Master of people and not their servant.  He is determined to impose his will even if he has to lie to do so ("If you like your doctor,...")

When was the last time you shot a firearm?

April 5, 2005.  I remember it clearly because later that same day I broke my shoulder playing softball.

I am a full platform, no excuses necessary loyal and proud Republican.  The Declaration of Independence only gives one reason way governments are instituted among men - to ensure God's blessings.

The Republican Party in MA needs to have candidates that are not ashamed of its national platform.  Democrats own the state, but that means they own all the problems.  They can't blame Republicans for anything. What a wonderful time to run as a conservative Republican!  Other liberal states like NJ and WI have elected Republicans; MA can do the same.

My ability to live within my means, balance my checkbook, and I will bring a healthy dose of common sense to Beacon Hill.

Republicans win when we run as conservatives.
