Comments:

My own parents are immigrants but when they came here they had to go before a judge and prove they would not be a burden on society. Instead they created businesses and PAID millions in taxes over the years, making us a better country. A state going broke, in a country going broke, should not give welfare to anybody who wanders over our borders.

I've written many editorials for the Newburyport News Supporting what I've said here - I'm not a new-comer to conservatism or the Republican party.http://www.newburyportnews.com/opinion/x1173958594/Dont-knock-the-rich-theyre-paying-most-of-the-taxeshttp://www.newburyportnews.com/opinion/x227001521/Truth-elusive-on-Beacon-Hill

4. My personal support of a state rep. and other (non-Governor) candidates in 2008, 2010, and TODAY!:

Please give examples of what you have done:

I've made donations to Brad Hill, Scott Brown, Richard Tisei and Jim Lyons. I'm also financing my own campaign almost entirely with my own money. I refuse to take money from special interest groups because I think there is way too much money in politics; too many of our elected officials are bought and paid for and I won't be one of them.

ALL CANDIDATES: General Info

Closest blood relative who served in the US Military, when and where:

Cousin Peter Nicolosi served in the Navy about 5 years ago; now lives in Augusta, ME.

Last two (good) books I read:

Throw Them All Out by Peter Schweizer. Explains how politicians use insider information to make money; illegal for the rest of us.No Ordinary Time by Doris Kearns Goodwin. Showed how America's industry leaders worked together to win WWII.

Your favorite US President of all time, and why:

Abraham Lincoln, arguably served during one of the country's most trying time and kept the union together. Did what he thought was right, not popular.

Your favorite US President of the 20th Century, and why:

Ronald Reagan, for also doing what was right rather than what was popular. He knew exactly what was needed to win the Cold War and help America regain its economic strength. We tend to forget how unpopular his views were at the time.

Your LEAST favorite US President of the 20th Century, and why:

Easily it's Barack Obama. I don't dislike the man personally, he's a good person but extremely unqualified to be President. He's never grown a company, never created a job, and doesn't realize what goes into these things. We now have about half the country receiving some sort of government check in the mail; completely unsustainable and will lead to our downfall just like welfare and entitlements have led other countries into insolvency.

When was the last time you shot a firearm?

I believe government should only help those who cannot help themselves: the elderly, the truly disabled, etc. Every able-bodied adult needs to be working and paying taxes INTO the system, not taking money FROM the system. I believe that Beacon Hill is taking in record amounts of revenue and there's more than enough to return local aid to cities and towns by simply reducing waste and inefficiencies at the state level.

Our Commonwealth is heading towards a fiscal calamity. We have the highest per capita debt in America, plus an unfunded pension liability in the tens of billions of dollars, and an unfunded health care liability in the tens of billions of dollars. This along with huge debt at the MBTA and in many municipalities leads me to believe we need a new direction.I am a small business person who has spent his entire adult life in the private sector. Beacon Hill is full of government workers and lawyers who have never started a company, grown a company, met a payroll, made a profit. As a result they pass laws that inhibit our ability to grow economically, and now people and businesses are moving out of state. We just lost a congressman because the census proved we are losing people, just like we did ten years ago, and ten years before that, and will do so again in ten years if we don't improve our business climate.

I will bring a completely different view of governing by doing the OPPOSITE of what most politicians do. Instead of finding new programs to grow government I will work very hard finding the waste and inefficiencies in our existing programs. Just like I go to my job sites now to see how productive my workers are I will visit every agency and department in the state to find places to eliminate waste and patronage. Example: I will visit the MBTA to see why we have the highest paid transit workers in the country but one of the worst public transit systems.

I'm the only candidate for this seat that has ever created jobs. I will not be bought and paid for or beholden to any group because I don't take donations from any special interests.

Thank you very much for providing this questionnaire. While I'm sure many will disagree with some of my views I hope that over all we choose candidates that will address our impending fiscal disaster.
