I am running for Federal Office, that being said I am A Fair Tax HR25 S13 supporter. It is the cornerstone of my campaign and my priority is to gather support and have this bill brought to the House floor for passage. With the abolishment of the income tax on a federal level I would then come back to our State to push for a similar legislation here at home. The Income tax system is the most punitive and discouraging system considering we need to create jobs and encourage folks to work.

Comments:

I am very disappointed in the authoritarian stance the administration has recently taken on the issue. I believe we need to enforce the sponsorship program that was in place when my own parents came to the States from Portugal in the early 1970s. The issue is too complex for a one size fits all approach, speaking with constituents the sentiment I share with them is that we need to take care of American Citizens first. The handouts we continually give to illegal immigrants is increasing costs and taxing our resources. That being said my heart goes out to those who come to our country under the guise of legality only to be victimized. I firmly believe that if we want to get serious about securing our border we must end what amounts to human trafficking across the United States to Mexican border. The best way to accomplish this is to crack down with the aid of the Mexican government on the organizations that engage in human trafficking and put them out of business.

Pro-Life vs. Pro-Choice

YES

NO

.
, not abortion

When do human beings begin to exist?

The Church states at conception I tend more to the argument explaining at the point of involuntary consciousness which I think is the exact moment the heart begins to beat.

Until what point should a women be able to abort her baby?

I take the catholic church's view on the subject. Which includes medical necessity as an exception.

Have you ever had the opportunity to promote your views on these issues? (provide an example).

Until recently I kept my views private, given that I am running for office I felt the need to clearly define my stance on the issue.

Pro-Family vs. Pro Same-Sex Marriage

YES

NO

I define marriage as one man and one woman, only, and will vote that way if given the choice

CHOOSE ONE:
I believe that marriage is something that is:

something that can be re-defined by the state

Have you ever had the opportunity to promote your views on these issues? (provide an example).

I believe marriage is a religious sacrament defined by my Judeo Christian values. That being stated the government has no business defining marriage in any form. The legal ramification of obtaining a marriage certificate is to enter into a legally binding contract for the duration of one’s life for the purpose of defining a tax status as well as financial purposes. That would be all fine and good if the court system actually held folks heels to the fire and ordered more remediation then divorce. If the government will not uphold its own legal documentation then why is it involved in trying to define it?

About Me

Closest blood relative who served in the US Military, when and where:

Jason Botelho, cousin but along with my brother and Jason's older brother we all grew up very close. I consider my cousin Jason more of my brother then anything else and I am extremely proud and thankful for his service to our nation.

Last two books I read:

FairTax: The Truth answering the critics by Neal Boortz and Congressman John Linder. Excerpts from The Original Argument by Glenn Beck.

Your favorite US President of all time, and why:

It is a toss up between Theodore Roosevelt, for his conviction, judgment, and prowess to speak softly and carry a big stick & Abraham Lincoln for his devotion to his country, during a period of great division(Civil War).

Your favorite US President of the 20th Century, and why:

Your LEAST favorite US President of the 20th Century, and why:

Nixon, Although I do believe there to be a healthy amount of skepticism, Nixon took paranoia to an extreme.

When was the last time you shot a firearm?

Years ago late Teens I was hunting a critter with my dad (who is licensed and registered) in our Mill that kept setting off the Burglar alarm.

As an independent running in what I believe will be a battle ground for party supremacy. I ask folks to help me get to DC. We may not agree on all issues, but if we agree on most, then I gratefully ask for your time, energy, and if possible financial support. Together we can send a message from our newly formed district 9; that partisan politics is over and it is time for Americans to unit to get the job done.
